Support 8K video long-term shooting! Yangtze Memory Chitai PRO professional high

The annual 6.18 promotional event has already begun, and for professionals engaged in photo and video shooting, as well as photography enthusiasts, it is also a good time to upgrade equipment. Especially for those who want to equip their cameras with a high-capacity, high-performance memory card, there are not only new memory card products on the market recently, but their performance and prices are also very attractive. For example, this ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card brought by Yangtze Memory.

The front of the product packaging is printed with the nominal sequential read speed of "170MB/s" and the nominal sequential write speed of "120MB/s".

The ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card not only has excellent performance but also comes with an SD card adapter, allowing users to conveniently use the memory card for various devices.

Similar to ZhiTai solid-state drives, the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card uses Yangtze Memory's original flash memory chips based on the JingStack® Xtacking® architecture. Its appearance is matched with gold and black, showing a more noble and professional look, mainly aimed at professional camera, drone, action camera, and gaming console users. The biggest highlight of this product is its high nominal transmission speed, which meets the UHS-I U3 and V30 speed standards. The front of the product packaging is printed with the nominal sequential read speed of "170MB/s" and the nominal sequential write speed of "120MB/s". At the same time, Yangtze Memory ZhiTai also specifies in the specifications that this memory card supports shooting high-resolution videos such as 4K UHD.

In the test of the "Mini Computer" evaluation room, the sequential read speed of the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card 1TB exceeded the nominal 170MB/s, reaching a maximum of 174.97MB/s, and its sequential write speed also slightly exceeded the nominal 120MB/s, reaching 124.57MB/s, which is a very good performance.

Looking at its performance specifications and benchmark test results, this memory card should be able to easily meet the shooting of high-resolution, high-bit-rate videos, because many common 4K test clips such as "Beijing Roast Duck" have a bit rate of only 60Mbps, that is, 7.5MB/s, Girls' Generation's "Oh, 4 in 1" 4K MV bit rate is only 101Mbps, about 12.6MB/s, even the "Duck Flew" 4K video that is famous for making old processors stutter has a bit rate of 248Mbps, that is, 31MB/s. So in practical applications, can it handle the shooting of 4K high-resolution videos, and even ultra-high-resolution 8K videos? Next, we will conduct a practical experience of the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card 1TB through the Canon EOS R6 camera and the newly launched Leica SL3 full-frame mirrorless camera.

Easy to support Canon EOS R6 4K@60FPS shooting

We first tested the 4K video shooting ability of the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card 1TB with the Canon EOS R6 professional micro camera.

We shot videos at 4K resolution, at 60FPS, in the highest quality mode (IPB).

We first tested the 4K video shooting ability of the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card 1TB with the Canon EOS R6 camera. We set it to shoot at 4K resolution, at 60FPS, in the highest quality mode (IPB). The result was very smooth, and the card continuously shot for about 23 minutes and 32 seconds in this mode without having to stop shooting due to the memory card write speed not meeting the requirements. In fact, we expected such a result, after all, the video written by the camera in this mode is only 232044kbps, that is, 226Mbps, which is about 28.3MB/s, far below the nominal write speed. The actual shooting bitrate for 4K@60FPS video is 232044kbps, which is 226Mbps, equivalent to approximately 28.3MB/s.

A 23-minute and 32-second 4K@60FPS video occupies a staggering 38.1GB of storage space.

Its 23 minutes and 32 seconds of 4K@60FPS video takes up 38.1GB of space, which is definitely a significant space occupation for common 128GB and 256GB memory cards. However, the ZHITAI PRO professional high-speed memory card with 1TB offers up to 921GB of actual usable space, so this lengthy video only consumes 4.13% of its capacity.

Capable of supporting long-duration 8K video shooting with the Leica SL3.

We also tested the video shooting capabilities of the ZHITAI PRO professional high-speed memory card using the Leica SL3, a new generation full-frame mirrorless camera from Leica.

Next, we experienced the Leica SL3, a new generation full-frame mirrorless camera from Leica that was released in March of this year. The Leica SL3 features a full-frame back-illuminated sensor (BSI CMOS) with triple variable resolution technology at its core, encased in a full-metal body with an elegant leather covering to protect the camera's safety. To meet various photographic requirements, the sensor can save raw files in DNG or JPEG formats, supporting resolutions of 60 million, 36 million, and 18 million pixels, with full sensor exposure in each resolution mode. The dynamic range of the Leica SL3 has been expanded to 15 stops, with an ISO sensitivity range from 50 to 100,000, ensuring rich details and excellent image quality under any lighting conditions.

The EyeRes viewfinder of the Leica SL3 is meticulously crafted with high-quality coated glass lenses, capable of presenting clear shooting images at 120 frames per second and a resolution of 5.76 million pixels. The live preview function even allows complete control over image exposure and composition before the shutter is released. Another new feature of the SL3 is the foldable high-quality 3-inch high-definition touch screen, which supports more angles and brings a wealth of creative possibilities for shooting.

We conducted 8K video shooting in C8K 30P mode with a bitrate of 300Mb/s using the ZHITAI PRO professional high-speed memory card.

In terms of video shooting, the Leica SL3 is equipped with efficient codecs such as H.265 and Apple ProRes, supporting video shooting resolutions up to 8K, making it a rare product in its class that can support 8K shooting. It can capture various specifications such as 8K 30P, C8K 30P, 4K 60P, C4K 60P, and FHD 120P, and its dedicated timecode interface enables professional-level synchronization of images and sound on-site. During the video shooting process, the new Maestro-IV processor using L² technology can easily handle a large amount of data, thereby giving the camera excellent color rendering and noise control.

We shot nearly half an hour of long video in C8K mode without any errors, indicating that the memory card can fully meet the needs of 8K video shooting.Leica SL3, equipped with the Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card, captures 8K videos using the H.265 codec at a resolution of 8192×4320.

To assess the video recording capabilities of the Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card, we first tested it in the C8K recording mode of the Leica SL3. During the 8K video recording process with the Leica SL3, whether in 8K or C8K, the bitrate is consistently set at 300Mb/s. The experience was highly satisfactory; we managed to record an 8K video that lasted 29 minutes and 54 seconds without any issues such as insufficient memory card speed, inability to record, or overheating of the camera or memory card that would require stopping the recording. The 8K video recording was very stable, fundamentally due to the fast write speed of the Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card. As mentioned earlier, the nominal bitrate for 8K video recording with the Leica SL3 camera is 300Mb/s. From the detailed information of the video we recorded, the actual bitrate of the 8K video was 278,670 kbps, which translates to 34MB/s. For a high-specification memory card like the Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO, this is clearly not a significant challenge and can easily meet users' needs for 8K video recording.

The biggest challenge with 8K video recording is the large file size, necessitating the use of high-capacity memory cards like the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card.

However, it is important to note that recording 8K video at high bitrates for extended periods will consume a significant amount of storage space. This 29-minute and 54-second 8K video, for instance, takes up 58.2GB of storage, which means that even a 128GB memory card cannot hold more than two such videos. Therefore, memory cards like the Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card, which offer both large capacity and high performance in sizes such as 512GB and 1TB, are a better choice.

The ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card also supports recording 1080p@50FPS videos at a bitrate of 378Mb/s.

The recording bitrate for this video is even higher, reaching 320,194 kbps.

Information on the 1080p@50FPS video recorded with the Leica SL3 and Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card shows that its bit rate, or bitrate, exceeds that of the 8K video.

A mere 10-minute video occupies 22.5GB of storage capacity, once again highlighting the urgent need for professionals to upgrade to high-capacity, high-performance memory cards.

Additionally, due to time constraints, we also briefly tested the capability of the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card 1TB to record high frame rate, high bitrate videos. We increased the recording bitrate to 378Mb/s on the Leica SL3 and recorded a 10-minute and 5-second 1080p@50FPS video. The results were also堪称完美, with the camera and memory card easily completing the task without any errors. The actual recording bitrate was 320,194 kbps, which translates to 39.1MB/s, and the ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory card handled it with ease. The only thing users need to be aware of again is that recording such high bitrate videos will result in significant storage space usage. A mere 10-minute video requires as much as 22.5GB of storage, making it imperative for users who frequently record high frame rate, high bitrate videos to upgrade to the 512GB or 1TB Yangtze Memory ZhiTai PRO professional high-speed memory cards.

The actual read and write speeds for video and photo files are both very fast.Another major application of memory cards is to transfer data from the card to a computer for users to save, edit, or view. Therefore, we also tested the performance of the ZhiTai PRO Professional High-Speed Memory Card 1TB when transferring the two most common types of data, photos and videos, to a PC. On the PC, we paired it with the ZhiTai TiPro7000 Three-Body Co-Branded Edition 1TB SSD, which is a high-performance product designed with the theme of Three-Body, with maximum sequential read and write speeds of up to 7400MB/s and 5400MB/s, fully capable of unleashing the performance of the memory card.

The actual write speed of video files on the ZhiTai PRO Professional High-Speed Memory Card 1TB can also reach 121.2MB/s, slightly exceeding the nominal write speed.

From the actual test, the ZhiTai PRO Professional High-Speed Memory Card 1TB continues the high-performance characteristics of its 512GB product. When reading and writing large-capacity sequential data such as 45.7GB of video, its read and write speeds are 165.8MB/s and 121.2MB/s, respectively. The read speed is very close to the nominal specification, while the write speed slightly exceeds the nominal 120MB/s. It takes less than 5 minutes to export the 45.7GB video from the memory card to the computer.

When transferring a photo file composed of 1577 photos with a total capacity of 17.2GB, the read and write speeds of small files do indeed reduce the transfer speed of the memory card. However, with its good random read and write performance, the ZhiTai PRO Professional High-Speed Memory Card 1TB can still provide a read speed of up to 162.8MB/s when transferring photos to the SSD, and the write speed to the SSD is also 98.9MB/s. Users can complete the transfer of a large number of photos without waiting too long.
